Artist Statement

I am a fiber artist and I create art quilts that tell a story.

The multiplicity of fiber and cloth as my medium gives me inspiration to create original designed art quilts, wall hangings and silk scarves, using a multi-disciplinary approach. I am continually fascinated with the designs I can create using multiple techniques. Some of the techniques include hand dyed and painted cotton and silk, batik, beading, shibori, printed, silkscreened, and discharged fabric.   Discovering new or other surface design techniques are always on my radar.

I often find myself in nature taking photographs looking for inspiration to make my next art quilt.  However, at times an idea or color scheme works itself into my vision and a nature related art quilt becomes something entirely different.  I also find myself rising to a challenge to make a quilt for a specific theme. These creations challenge my design, the techniques I choose and also evokes an emotion that innovates me to a new level of art.
